End Of Days – Friday Fictioneers Photo prompt.

Friday Fictioneers Photo prompt. Last week was my first forray into flash fiction and I have to say it was an amazing experience. So I’m back to have another go, the idea is to create a short story in 100 words to do with the photo prompt. Thanks to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for making this all possible and to Lauren Moscato for a fantastic photo.

End Of Days.

The world is dying.

Their last mission was to find me and my brother.

“Get moving Harper.”

We turn into a long dark corridor.

“It’s this way, I can feel it.” Little fingers clench my hand, I squeeze him back, “hold tight little man.”

The building shakes beneath our feet.

I see it, the portal shimmers and shifts unmoved by the chaos around us.

“It’s a dead end.”

With a flick of my wrist the door opens, I glance back and note their confusion.

Our last chance.

“Ready little man?”

We leap through.

  1. Heidi,
I love your use of the countdown in the story. It really adds tension to the story. I’m wondering who “they” are, as in “their last mission.” At first I thought they were trying to rescue the main characters, then thought maybe they were hunting them. In any case, great story.
