I hope you are well and ready for some more Flash Fiction. It’s half term here and I am behind with everything, I’m still reading last weeks flash fiction. As always, we are given our photo prompt by our wonderful Friday Fictioneer leader, Rochelle . Life is still manic at the moment with family and rehearsals for Spamalot the musical. To see exactly what I’ve been up to click here !
So here is my attempt for this week. I hope you enjoy it.
Branches scrape my skin.
Dirt wedged between my toes.
My lungs burn, body shaking.
He’s close, I can hear the keys jingle.
Breaking through the tree line I stumble into the court yard.
Back where I started.
My shoulders slump.
A large calloused hand circles my throat, “I’m going to make you pay for that Anna.”
“Really, thought you’d… enjoy… some exercise.” I gasp, his grip tightening as I slap at his body.
“What are you…” His eyes widen as he staggers backwards.
He feels the handle of his own knife, sticking out of his throat.
I remove the bunch of keys from his belt and head towards the old building.
Once I release the girls, we’ll gather weapons and wait for the trucks to arrive at midnight.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my offering! If you fancy reading some more stories from the Friday Fictioneers please click on the little blue froggy, you won’t be disappointed!
