I’ll Be Waiting- Part Two Friday Fictioneers flash Fiction Photo Prompt!

Hello all!

I hope you are well and ready for some more Flash Fiction. As always, we are given our photo prompt by our wonderful Friday Fictioneer leader, Rochelle . The rules are to write a story in 100 words, using the photo prompt as inspiration. :) I’m trying something a bit different this week, this story is happening at the same time as Waiting For You .

So here is my attempt for this week. I hope you enjoy it.

I’ll Be Waiting.

My hands shake.

Words fail.

I’m handcuffed to the bed in bay three.

I can hear what they’re saying.

They all know what I did.

The curtains ruffle in bay two next to me, someone’s crying.

“My Mia…how can she be dead! Someone tell me how!”

The cries grow louder.

Because of me.

“Stand clear.”

That came from bay four.

Please no!

“Time of death…Chris Jones…parents on their way…”

My heart stutters. Can’t catch my breath.

Monitors spring to life.

A dark figure appears at my side, ignored by all the nurses.

“Who… are…you?”

“Mia’s Grandad.”

“I’ll be waiting for you.”

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my offering! If you fancy reading some more stories from the Friday Fictioneers please click on the little blue froggy, you won’t be disappointed!

The Hollow

19th-22nd October 2016

Mad Cow Productions present THE HOLLOW By Agatha Christie – THE HOLLOW is a classic English country house mystery, and rather a lot of fun.

An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow, home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatell.

With all the usual suspects assembled:  the jilted lover, mistress, wife, and of course, a butler. It is up to Inspector Colquhoun and Sergeant Penny to work out “whodunit!”

    • I’ve added what I originally wrote to the first part. Word count was very frustrating today! If you do get chance and are up for it could you take a look and let me know if it’s clearer? This was a learning challenge for me today…so input greatly recieved. Thank you Heidi 🙂

  2. I read the first one, then this one. This one I liked a lot because you keep the pace moving right along. As for the former story, are they meant to be read side by side or in sequence?

I know you struggled a lot with this, but please KEEP TRYING because, as Lajos Egri, the play critic used to say about experimentation, is that it’s worth it. Even if it fails you are better off having tried than not at all. Both are well-written, both very good. Nice job, Heidi!

    • Thank you ever so much! There’s a slight time delay between when part one starts and part two. I loved the pace of the second one too. I needed the contrast between the slow realisation that Mia and Chris were dead to the man that had caused their deaths. It was a big challenge and I learned a lot from doing it, so it served it’s purpose lol huge hugs Heidi 🙂

  3. I read both and the second makes it clearer but the first on it’s own made me work as a reader which is good. It was a challenge for you but keep at it because you have something there.
